Theo & Thea first reached out at the beginning of the year to discuss wedding photography. In Thea's initial email, she wrote, "So we're disgusting...my name is Thea, his name is Theo, and both of our dads are named Ted." I laughed so hard 🤣 Her candid "we're disgusting but we own it" attitude made me immediately love her. And if this is how she is, then I'm sure Theo is just as candid.

At our meeting, Thea's mom came along and brought her wedding album...which Thea had never seen! We all spent about 20 minutes flipping through the pages. Thea (upset that her mom had never shown her this) was wide-eyed as she turned page after page. What's the significance of this? Theo & Thea are getting married at her parent's house...the same place her parents got married! Seeing as the house is still the same as when her parents got married (no remodels or anything), we planned to recreate some of her parents' wedding photos in the same spots to hang up side-by-side. I know, it adds to the "disgustingness."

Anywaysss, Theo & Thea booked on the spot and were good to go.

Now, each of my sessions includes an Engagement Session. With this year being everything that it was, we lost a couple of good months with great weather to do their engagement photos. Once we were allowed to start resuming somewhat normal activities, I reached out asking when they would like to book. To my surprise, they'd forgotten they had this Engagement Session included in their wedding package! I scolded them for forgetting, and we booked a date. And man oh man, I'm glad we didn't let this opportunity slip away!

Theo & Thea were so much fun to work with. If I told you about the kinds of things we talked about...well, let's just leave that a mystery 😉 But take a look below and look at what naturals they are! I think I might have convinced them to go into professional modeling after this, and I'm so excited to photograph their wedding.

I feel that it's super important to follow through with the Engagement Session included in my Wedding Packages so that my clients and I get to work with each other before their wedding. We get to know each other, figure out our communication styles, clarify directions during posing (like the difference between "tilt your head" and "turn your head"), and honestly just have a good time. It's important that all of my clients feel comfortable in front of the camera so they're free to express themselves truly, openly, and honestly. My goal is to capture my clients as they truly are. And the more comfortable they are, the easier this is.

So cheers, Theo & Thea! Can't wait for the wedding 🤗

Theo & Thea chose to do their Engagement Session between Carmel Valley and Big Sur. We were able to capture that beautiful golden hour and get these gorgeous backlit photos along the coast. Also, how cute is Theo for also having his own engagement ring?!

Fun Fact: After this session, I posted some of their photos on my social media, only to have one of my cousins say, "Aw! My beautiful cousin Theo." Ummm what?! That's when Theo and I found out we're distantly related, instantly making this whole situation so much more fun. Crazy how small this world is!
