These sessions are about letting you be fully in it while I take care of the rest. I’ll guide you with intention, step in with direction when it’s helpful, and pull back when the moment calls for it. Some poses are softly guided and polished, others happen naturally, but none of it ever feels awkward or overly staged.
If you’re planning a surprise, you’re not doing it alone. From choosing the right spot to timing things just right, I help you think through every detail so you can stay present, confident, and excited!

Engagements
This is the space between chapters. After years of building a relationship together and right before everything changes in the best way. Engagement sessions are about being present in this moment and documenting it as it actually feels.
Think of it like a date, not a photoshoot. Locations are chosen with intention, whether that’s where you first met, a favorite coffee shop, a quiet bookstore, or somewhere that simply makes your heart happy. Big Sur. The Golden Gate Bridge. When you’re focused on each other instead of the camera, the moments play out naturally, with gentle guidance when it’s helpful and space to just be yourselves.
Proposals
The proposal is the moment it all begins. It’s the question, the nerves, the surprise, and that split second when everything becomes real. This is before the ring selfies, before the planning, before you’re telling everyone you’re engaged. Proposals are about documenting that moment as it naturally happens, then giving you space to soak it all in together.
You don’t need to have every detail figured out, or any detail actually. I’m here to help from the very start, including finding a meaningful location, planning the timing, and figuring out how to keep it a surprise. My role is to document the proposal as it truly unfolds, then gently take the reins afterward with thoughtful direction for celebratory portraits that feel effortless and genuine, never stiff or overdone.

Most engagement sessions and proposal experiences with JeLau Photography fall between $1,000–$2,700, depending on coverage time, location, and how much support you want built into the experience. I'm planning my proposal from out of the area, can you help?
Absolutely! Many proposals I photograph are planned from out of town and I’m happy to help every step of the way. We’ll talk through locations, timing, and all the little details you might not even realize you’re thinking about yet. You don’t have to have it all figured out. I’ve got you and I’ll help make sure the moment feels smooth, meaningful, and truly special.

Feeling a little awkward in front of the camera is completely normal. Actually, 99% of the couples you see on this website said the same thing! I’ll guide you through posing during your engagement session so you feel natural, confident, and completely at ease, which also makes your wedding day feel effortless.
What if we want to do an outfit change?
No stress at all. I travel with a portable changing tent, so you’ll have a private, easy place to change right on location. It keeps things simple and lets us move through the session without breaking the flow or needing to hunt down a bathroom or car. Or struggling to change in the car.
