HEY, I'M JENN, and I’m the Carmel proposal photographer for you if you want your moment to feel like a scene out of a storybook (fairytale cottages, cypress trees, and white sand included). I was born and raised here, so I know which corners of Carmel are more private, when the beach have fewer tourists, and exactly where the light hits at sunset.
Carmel is small and walkable, which makes it perfect for a surprise but also means a lot of people are around, so from our first call I’ll help you choose a spot that feels private, time it for the best light, and map out where you’ll stand and where we’ll be tucked away. If you’re visiting for the weekend, I’ll help you build the whole plan around your trip, from where to park to where to celebrate after.
On the day, we blend right in and catch every reaction, from the “wait, what?!” to the happy tears, then guide you through celebration photos while you’re still floating. And if the fog rolls in, we get excited! Because nothing makes Carmel look more romantic. If your plan shifts a little last minute, I’ll adjust on the spot so the moment still feels like it was meant to happen that way.

How Carmel Proposal Planning Works
1. Tell me your plan
Book a call and tell me about the two of you, your vision, and your timing and I’ll start brainstorming the spots that fit you best.
2. We plan every detail
I'll help you choose the spot and the time for the best light (and fewest tourists), take care of the photography permit, and send you Google pins so you know exactly where to stand.
3. You pop the question
I'll be discreet until the big moment, catch every reaction, then guide you through photos together as you celebrate.
My Approach
My style is candid and documentary for the proposal itself, so every reaction stays real and exactly as it happened. Once they say yes, I’ll step in with easy direction for your celebration photos, based on your personalities and how comfortable you are in front of the camera, so the photos feel like the two of you and not a stiff photoshoot.

Carmel packs a lot of romance into one square mile, and these are the spots couples ask about most. I also have a few quieter spots of my own that I only share by Google pin after booking, so your moment stays yours.
Carmel Beach
White sand, turquoise water, and twisted cypress trees along the bluffs make this the classic Carmel proposal, especially at sunset, when the sky turns gold over the water. It can get busy, but I know the stretches and the timing that keep it feeling private.
17-Mile Drive and Pebble Beach
If you’re dreaming of dramatic cliffs and crashing waves, the overlooks along 17-Mile Drive are just minutes away and feel completely different from the village, with sweeping views and wind-swept cypress at every turn.
Downtown Carmel
Storybook cottages, hidden courtyards behind bookstores, and flower-filled garden corners make downtown Carmel perfect for a cozy, whimsical proposal, especially on a foggy morning before the shops open.
Carmel Valley
Just a few minutes inland, rolling hills, oak trees, and vineyards give you warm sunshine (even when the coast is foggy) and a totally different feel for a romantic, golden-hour proposal.

Proposals start at $1,200 and include:
- 30 minutes of coverage to capture the proposal and your celebratory photos right after
- Help choosing the perfect spot and timing for the best light and atmosphere
- Photography permit handled for you
- Google pins, shared after booking, so you know exactly where to go
- Posing guidance once they say yes
- Gallery delivered in 3-4 weeks
Every proposal is customized from there, so we can add more time for more celebratory photos, a proposal setup, video, drone coverage, film, or a celebration with family and friends.

Where should we celebrate after?
Carmel is made for celebrating, so I’m always happy to share my favorites, like brunch at Stationaery, Cultura if you're a Mezcal fan, or if wineries are more your speed, Scheid is my favorite in town and Folktale Winery is a must just a short drive away.
What if it’s foggy or rainy?
We love it! Fog is part of what makes Carmel so magical, and it turns the cypress trees and cottages into something straight out of a fairytale. If the weather ever turns unsafe, I’ll help you move to a new date, and weather reschedules I call don’t count against your free reschedule.
Isn’t Carmel Beach really busy?
It can be, especially on weekends and at sunset, which is why timing matters so much. We’ll plan your moment for when the beach is calmer or pick a quieter stretch where you’ll feel like you have it to yourselves.
How do you stay hidden?
Carmel is full of visitors with cameras, so we blend right in as tourists, and I use a long lens to capture everything from a distance without interrupting your moment. We’ll come over once you let us know you’re ready.
Can we include family or our dog?
Absolutely! Carmel is one of the most dog-friendly towns in California and family can hide nearby to cheer or join you for photos after.
Can you help with a proposal setup?
Yes! Setups can be added to your proposal, and I work with local vendors who create beautiful florals and picnic setups. We’ll handle the logistics so all you have to do is show up.

What if we need to change the date?
Plans change, so you get one free reschedule within the same calendar year (based on my availability).
Do you photograph engagements and weddings too?
I do! Many of my proposal couples love working together and want me to continue capturing their love through these different chapters.
