2022 Started Where 2021 Left Off...
Just two weeks before 2021 ended, I received a call from a mom looking for a wedding photographer for her daughter. I'm not the biggest fan of other people reaching out for the couple (because most of my questions are personal and can only be answered by the couple) but I had a different feeling about this. Mom was super cool and she had all of the answer! Her daughter was planning a Micro Wedding at La Playa in Carmel, California in less than a month and they needed a photographer. They were searching all over for a photographer and happened to come across my profile on WeddingWire. They fell in love with my style and decided to reach out.
As this was a last minute thing, they were wondering if there was any way I could meet with them in person before the wedding day. Well...4 weeks until the wedding day and they all lived up in the Bay Area. Luckily, I had an Engagement Session planned for Jan 2, 2022 so I asked if they happened to be free earlier that day and they did! So as we went up for our session a couple hours early, I was lucky enough to meet with Marjorie's moms.
We walked in and they greeted us with all kinds of snacks, including the best homemade hummus I've ever had (yes, we obtained the recipe). A few minutes later our bride Marjorie arrived and we chatted, talked logistics of the wedding, I answered all of their questions, and we just got to know each other. I could tell they were very close and had a tight bond. They were all put at ease since I was able to meet with them before the wedding day and they felt comfortable around myself and Leslie. Woot Woot!
Micro Wedding at La Playa in Carmel, California
With the bride getting ready in one of their suites, the ceremony set up in La Playa's Garden Room, and Cocktail Hour taking place in the Fireside Room, the place was buzzing with excitement. Everyone was getting everything in place and set perfectly for the wedding!
While Marjorie finished getting ready, we took the guys out to do their portraits. You always have to capture the group smiling, being serious, and then being goofy. And then obviously individuals with each of the people in their party. We had so much fun walking around La Playa's beautiful gardens to get all of the best shots of these handsome gentlemen and then, as quickly as we had headed out for these photos, we came back to prep for the ceremony.
The Ceremony was beautifully setup with florals by Carmel Floral Design and had such a warm, intimate feeling in the air. The two walked down the aisle, said their vows, stomped on a glass, and walked back down the aisle. While I'm going to be keeping their ceremony photos private, I'm super excited to share others from their day!
After the ceremony we took family portraits in the garden, proceeded to take couple's portraits around the property, and then finished with their reception back in the Garden Room. Heartfelt toasts were made, cake was cut and eaten, and lots of belly laughs were felt.
Cheers to many years of love and happiness together! 🥂
